What is an eSIM?

An eSIM is an electronic SIM that allows you to activate a cellular plan from a carrier without needing a physical SIM card. You can add, remove, or change networks and data plans instantly. The SIM Profile is delivered to the device over the air (OTA) by scanning a QR Code.

What is an eSIM profile?

An eSIM profile is a type of data file that contains all the information necessary to connect your device to a mobile network. This includes your mobile number, your account details, and other settings.

What should I do if my eSIM profile does not download?

Samsung S20 Series, Samsung Galaxy S21 5G Series, and Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G that originate from the USA are not eSIM capable. Samsung Note 20 Ultra and Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 2 originated from the USA and Hong Kong and cannot be used with eSIMs as well. Samsung devices in Canada may not be eSIM capable. Please contact your carrier to ensure that your Samsung device is eSIM capable.

 

    • Google: Google Pixel 3 & 3 XL*, Google Pixel 3a & 3a XL*, Google Pixel 4, 4a & 4 XL, Google Pixel 5* *Pixel series: Pixel 3 bought in Australia, Taiwan, and Japan are not eSIM compatible. Pixel 3 devices bought with service from any US or Canadian carriers other than Sprint and Google Fi don’t work with eSIM. Pixel 3a which is bought in South East Asia and with Verizon service is not eSIM compatible as well.

 

    • HAMMER: HAMMER Explorer PRO, HAMMER Blade 3, HAMMER Blade 5G, myPhone NOW eSIM

 

    • MOTOROLA: Motorola Razr 2019, Motorola Razr 5G

 

    • Huawei: Huawei P40, Huawei P40 Pro*, Huawei Mate 40 Pro *Huawei P40 Pro+ is not compatible with eSIMs.

 

  • Others: Nuu Mobile X5, Gemini PDA 4G+Wi-Fi, OPPO Find X3 Pro*, Sony Xperia 10 III Lite *eSIM support depends on carriers. Regions that do not support dual SIM cards: Australia (Telstra and Optus), Japan (KDDI). Functions available on the live network depend on the situations of the carrier’s network and related services deployment.

DO I need a physical SIM card as well as an eSIM?

No, you don’t need a physical SIM card in order to use an eSIM. However, some mobile devices do come with a physical SIM card slot as well as an eSIM. This means that you have the option to use either a physical SIM card or an eSIM.

How to set up yours eSIM - iPhone
  • Receive the eSIM QR code – buying e-sim from Ajo.com
  • Setup your eSIM profile as follows:
  • 1. Go to your device Settings > Cellular or Mobile Data > Add Cellular Plan
  • 2. Scan the QR code provided by KnowRoaming
  • 3. Tap Add Cellular Plan
  • 4. Choose Secondary Label and change the name to Ajo
  • 5. Select the option for ‘Use Ajo for cellular data only’ and tap Continue
  • 6. Select the option for ‘Use Primary as the preferred line’ and tap Done
  • 7. Add the APN Name*: Tap on Ajo eSIM > Cellular Data Network> Cellular

 

Data > Add APN

Data roaming must be enabled to use the Ajo eSIM.

Can I switch between different mobile networks with an eSIM?

Yes, you can switch between different mobile networks with an eSIM. However, you will need to make sure that your device is compatible with the mobile network that you want to switch to.

How to set up your eSIM - Android
  • Buy the eSIM data plan for your destination at Ajo
  • Receive the eSIM QR code

 

  1. Setup your eSIM profile as follows:
  2. Go to your device Settings > Network & Internet > Mobile Network
  3. Tap Don’t have the SIM card? > Download your SIM > Tap Next
  4. Tap Activate
  5. Tap Ajo or Globaldata
  6. Add the APN Name: Tap on Advanced > Tap Access Point Names > Add APN name by clicking the three dots symbol ⋮ > Add New APN > Enter APN Name >Save APN >APN is selected and ready to use

Data roaming must be enabled to use the Ajo E-Sim.

What makes an eSIM so secure?

Cellular network security standards are far greater than those of public Wi-Fi. Built-in VPNs encrypt data between your device and the network, making it impossible for hackers to eavesdrop.

How can I purchase the Ajo eSIM?

The Ajo eSIM can be purchased on Ajo. You will receive a QR code via email. After that, please follow the setup instructions.

Where can I look for my APN?

The APN, or Access Point Name, is a setting on your device that allows you to connect to the internet. The APN can be found in the Settings menu of your device.

Are voice and SMS available with the eSIM

The Ajo eSIM offers data services. In your dual-sim iPhone, you can use voice and SMS from your home carrier while using unthrottled affordable data with your Ajo eSIM.

What is an APN profile, and how does it work?

An APN profile is a type of eSIM profile that includes settings for connecting to the internet. When you activate your eSIM, this profile is downloaded onto your device.

How do I add more data plans?

You can buy additional data plans on Ajo and follow the instructions to set up your eSIM profile and the new plan. Please remember to remove the eSIM profile from your device after you are done using it.

How can i remove the eSIM profile once my data plan is expired?

You can buy additional data plans on Afrosim.com and follow the instructions to set up your eSIM profile and the new plan. Please remember to remove the eSIM profile from your device after you are done using it.

Is it possible to delete and cancel my eSIM profile?

Yes, you can delete or cancel your eSIM profile at any time. To do so, go to the Settings menu of your device and select the eSIM tab. From here, you will be able to manage your eSIM profiles. However, doing so will remove all of the saved information associated with that profile, including your mobile number and any data plans you may have.

How can I do if i lose my eSIM QR Code?

Does eSIM work without Internet?

While purchasing and downloading the profile requires internet access, switching between previously downloaded profiles does not.

Does eSIM drain more battery?

The eSIM is not any different from a traditional SIM card when it comes to battery consumption. However, being connected to two networks uses more energy than one network and will result in slightly more battery usage.

Can I have multiple eSIMs?

Yes, you can have multiple eSIMs on your device. However, you will only be able to use one at a time.

Is an eSIM secure?

Ajo SIM has built-in VPN security that encrypts all data passing through the eSIM profile. In addition, the eSIM cannot be cloned like a physical SIM card.

What information does the QR code contain?

All of the information needed to activate your eSIM is contained in the QR code. This includes the subscriber’s identification number, i.e. PIN, PUK, phone number, and serial number.
